This September, Bodmin Musical Theatre Company will be performing the iconic numbers of Tim Rice and Andrew Lloyd Webber’s award-winning musical, ‘EVITA’, to audiences in Bodmin and St Austell.
Bringing back some familiar faces, while showcasing some incredible local talent, the company will be telling the stories of Eva Peron, Juan Peron and Che Guevara in this hit musical set in Buenos Aires between 1934 and 1952.
Sue Gosling, secretary and performer at Bodmin Musical Theatre Company, is just one member of the cast who joined the company in 2011. Originally called Bodmin Operatics Society after launching in 1982, it was renamed ‘Bodmin Musical Theatre Company’ and has been putting on enjoyable shows for the community for more than 40 years.
Sue’s family all enjoy performing in the shows. Son Blaine Gosling has since gone on to succeed in the world of performing arts, graduating from The MTA drama school and is now an actor in London.
Blaine is coming back to perform the role of Che Guevera in EVITA this September, so he can ‘give something back’ to the company that first inspired him. Heading up the main role of Eva Peron in EVITA is Molly Gudz, who is also a professional actor and has enjoyed similar success in London.
Juan Peron will be performed by one of BMTC’s new members, Adam Clark, who is an experienced actor, having previously performed with both St Austell and Newquay Musical Theatre Companies. If you saw last year’s production of Joseph, Gage Gosling - who played the titular role and took up his place at East15 Drama School last September - is returning to play Magaldi.
Bodmin Musical Theatre Company will perform Evita at St Austell Arts Theatre at 7.30pm on 6th and 7th September, and a Saturday matinee performance at 2.30pm. Audiences in Bodmin will be able to watch the show at The Beat, 7.30pm on 13th, 14th and 15th September, with a 2.30pm Saturday matinee.
